Welcome to my gay MechCommander page. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!(Terence) General strategies, mission walkthroughs, maps, and whatever else
people request are constantly being added so go fuck yourselves. Your feedback is
greatly appreciated (please swear at me), as I want this to become one of the best MechCommander sites on the net.
I urge you again, plese swear at me.

Some people have been complaning that the walkthroughs on this site don't work perfectly for them. I've
figured out that the reason is that FASA (in their infinite wisdom) made some of the missions harder in
the version 1.1 patch. Some of the computer-controlled units will behave differently with the patched
version, so not all of the walkthroughs are exact for version 1.1. My suggestion? The game is already
hard enough without the patch, so unless you're experiencing crashes you should probably play through the
single-player campaign with the retail 1.0 version. Mike Shanovich sent me some details on changes he
noticed in the patch:
Just a quick FYI. The 1.1 patch does seem to change the game in some scenarios. The ones I noticed the
most on my first time through were:
Mission 2-6: Minor change making it harder to kill all the firestarters
seperate from the Catapult.
Mission 3-6: Harder to keep the Mad Cat from coming down the hill without support. Seems like someone
else always wants to help it out.
Mission 4-4: The hunchbacks will all come back to the base after wandering off. Jumped my Raven over to
an island for another salvage opportunity.
Mission 5-3: Minor change in that the Masakari shows up even if you don't capture #6.
Mission 5-4: Major change here!! All the Masakaris will find you no matter how long it takes. Only the
first 2 at station Alpha will stay on post if it isn't destroyed (It's now the last one I take out).
Best way is to burn through the forest take the turret station from behind, play bait and run with all of
alpha's forces, take Alpha sensor control, leave intact, and then slide around to the bottom of the map
and work around to take Beta first. Then you can repair after every Masakari battle.
Mission 5-6 Minor difference with the Lokis in the battle at the gate (they seemed more concerned with
the turrets than my mech's----go figure?).
Thanks Mike!
In other news, there are two new sites in the
Uplink Center.

No, I haven't been kidnapped by French terrorists, but thanks for sending the search party.
The fact is, I haven't been playing MechCommander very much lately. I've beaten each mission
innumerable times, and I'm running out of ideas for the site. This is not to say that the Station
will disappear -- I'll keep adding information whenever I can. I am still figuring out better ways
to do Missions 4-2 and 4-5, and will post my findings soon. I also welcome any tips you have for the
Strategies section, because I can't think of much to add.
I was playing with PhotoShop earlier and made a new logo for the Station --
let me know what you think.
Also, the address of the site has changed slightly. It is now
http://home.hiwaay.net/~cwilson/mech/index.html instead of the old fly.hiwaay.net address (which still
works for now, but it may stop working without warning). Please update your bookmarks/links.
The September issue of PC Gamer has a review of MechCommander. The
game rated a 79% (good, but not great), and the reviewer covered most of the problems we've been
discussing on the Message Board.

Argh. There just haven't been enough hours in the day lately. They should pass a law about that or
something... Anyway, I'm still hard at work (when I get a free minute) on rewriting some of the
walkthroughs, and I'm sorting out what to put in the Strategy section.
I've added one new Link, for a pretty
nice chat/discussion site called MechCommander
Academy (link now fixed, sorry...). Also, there's a new MC review up at
eXscape. Go check it out.

The final walkthrough is online!
Mission 5-6 is now up in all its glory.
I'm currently re-writing the walkthroughs for Missions 4-2 and 4-5, and then I'll be expanding the
rest of the site. As always, check out the
Message Board for some great
MechCommander discussion...

July 21, 1998 - 8:15pm
Walkthroughs added for
Mission 5-4 and
Mission 5-5.
The final walkthrough should be up tomorrow, and then I'll be going back and re-writing a few
that I'm not happy with (mainly 4-2 and 4-5).

July 19, 1998 - 11:40pm
Walkthrough added for
Mission 5-3.

I'd like to apologize to everyone for the lack of updates lately. I've been pretty busy with other
things (*gasp* you mean there's life outside of gaming?)... The last four walkthroughs should be up
Real Soon Now, and then I'll be expanding the rest of the site. Feel free to ask questions about the
last four missions on the message board while I work on the walkthroughs.
While you're waiting, check out these MechCommander reviews at
Online Gaming Review and
GameSpot. They don't present a
glowing assessment of the game, but they're both fair and address most of the merits and flaws of
MechCommander.
